chase adrian

As Aunt Lizzy updated, Chase Adrian is here!  He was born on Dec 23 after 24 hours of induced labor (not so fun) and 45 minutes of pushing (thank god for epidurals).  To be honest, I would go through the 24 hours again in a heartbeat for how smoothly  the pushing went.  Overall, it was a great labor and delivery for such a big baby.  Several nurses were surprised he was not a c section. Didn't they know I'm a superhero?

We stayed in the hospital until Christmas Day and we had a great stay.  The nursing staff was spectacular and really made sure we got to know Chase and how to take care of him.  He stayed wiht us in the room so we were confident in taking him home and were able to sleep the first night we had him at home.  Here are a few shots from the hospital

First, a before shot.  Little do I know what I'm getting myself into at this point!
This was taken the morning we went to the hospital

A self proclaimed Ladies Man

Already a Chi O supporter thanks to Aunt Lizzy

The first time Scott fed Chase. I've never seen him smile so big.  This is my favorite picture so far.

Merry Christmas!

We think he has my eyes, but other than that, this baby is all Scott!

I would post more right now, but there is a funky smell coming from the baby next to me, so I better go take care of that!  I'll post more at the next middle of the night feeding!

...is tomorrow!

Tomorrow morning we go in for induction.  We have the be at the hospital at 6:30 am and they will start pitocin.  Who knows how long we'll be there, but we're hoping it's fast!  Elizabeth will update the blog when he's here.

Thanks for thinking of us!

where are you...

Dear Baby Conley,

We are anxiously awaiting your arrival.  Last week, you seemed all ready to come out and see us.  For the past 5 days, we've had no labor indicators at all.  We are very excited to see you and would appreciate your appearance ASAP.  If you do not choose to come see us before Thursday, we are coming in to get you.  This is your fair warning that we are inducing on Thursday morning!  We love you!

Love,
Mom and Dad

anytime would be great...

As of yesterday, I am 38 weeks pregnant.  We had an ultrasound and the baby's estimated weight is 9 lbs 9 oz.  Tomorrow we go to the OB to decide if he should be a scheduled c-section.
Last week at the doctor, she told me I was ready to go, all my body needed to do was kick into labor.  So naturally, Scott and I have been on pins and needles all week.

Nothing.

So I kept working and waiting.  Yesterday, I decided I could work no longer.  I was so tired and was getting pains in the afternoon and at night from working, so I stopped and started using the vacation days I had saved up for so long.

I started off today by sleeping late and lying on the couch for about an hour.  After that, I decided to get up and move.  Then the nesting kicked in.  Here is what I've done from 10 am until 9 pm:

Clean and organize Scott's closet
Clean and organize Scott's dresser
Clean and organize my closet
Go to Wegman's and wonder around for 90 minutes, stocking up on food and buying presents
Clean the master bedroom and bathroom
Make a double batch of dinner and freeze half of it
Take/pick up clothes from dry cleaners
Organize all the baby's books

So my house is greatly benefitting from this baby staying in there.  Now I have to figure out more stuff to do tomorrow!

Ode to Aunt Lizzy...

A message from baby Conley.....

I hear I have something exciting to come out to!  She's related to my mom and she can't wait for me to come out so she can dress me in things like this

This is a cute costume however my mom heard a rumor that my Aunt Lizzy
wants to put me in some sort of Nativity scene....see here

My mom tells me Aunt Lizzy gets mad at her for not opening her eyes in pictures, so I would like to point out the following:

Must be a family trait

Mom and Aunt Lizzy have done a lot of fun things together, like ham it up at Mom and Dad's wedding

And throw fun parties

It's this very special lady's birthday and she will be glad to know that I plan to let her have it all to herself and I will not insist on sharing it with her!  I hope to see you all soon, but not on my Aunt Lizzy's birthday!

I'm not gonna mess with this girl!

Happy birthday Aunt Lizzy!  Love you!

finally....

THE BABY SHOWER!!!

I'm finally getting it together enough to post about the baby shower!

We had the shower on October 29th, a day we figured would be good because it wouldn't be too cold for snow or too warm for hot cider.   Wrong!  It snowed.  The earliest it's snowed in Northern Virginia since the Civil War.  The goood news is that the snow didn't slow anybody down and the shower went off as planned!

We had super cute decorations courtesy of Aunt Lizzy, of course:

And delicious food courtesy of Grandma, of course

Ok so she didn't make the cake, but it was delicious

There's very yummy caramel corn in here!

And fabulous looking guests

And of course, some fantastic presents!

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for a fabulous shower!  We are so grateful for your generosity and feel so much more ready for the little boy!

an explanation....

Don't worry baby Conley, we're right here.  We have been very busy the past few weeks and I guess I owe you all an explanation.

2 weeks ago, we were in Toldeo, OH celebrating the wedding of Chris and Amy

Future aunt and uncle

And we saw this lady...

Nana

In case you think Mom just likes big dresses....

Proof we took the baby with us!

The next weekend, we were at this place...

University of Delaware football stadium

for the baby's first homecoming.  We hung out all weekend with this fun lady:

That's Alison, she's pretty exciting about the baby coming too!

So that's where we've been.  I've been a terrible blog updater, but I promise, we took the baby EVERYWHERE with us.  I know because I had to carry him around!

This one takes the cake....

At the end of September, my old work, The Children's Therapy Center, had a baby shower for me.  One of my friends, Sarah, made a diaper cake for me.  I have to say, this is a pretty impressive cake...

I think she knows we like the Steelers!  Scott was pretty excited with the cake when I showed him.  Sarah had stuffed all sorts of toiletries into the cake, so it was full of goodies. She's a mom, so she knows everything we would need!

Happy Halloween!

Hello there!  So sorry for the long time between blog posts!  We have been very busy here with 2 showers and guests in town. I will try to be better.  Once I get the shower pictures together, they will be on here.

But for now....a little Halloween cheer

And yes Lizzy, my eyes are open!

Happy Halloween!

30 weeks...

Another week, another doctor's appointment.

I had my 30 week appointment today.  I am going every 2 weeks now, which means we're getting closer!  Nothing exciting from this appointment.  Baby boy is doing well, strong heart beat.  I got the all clear to fly to my brother-in-law's wedding in 2 weeks.

She did mention that I just squeaked by on my glucose test.  I was excited by this fact but she still thinks I may have gestational diabetes because the baby is big.  I think he's just big.  I was almost 9 pounds and Scott was almost 11.  As the high risk doctor said, we just make big babies!

Showers are coming up so exciting posts to come!

28 weeks...

We're 28 weeks today!  I went for an ultrasound and learned all sorts of things about the baby.

Weight he should be: 2 pounds, 4 ounces
Weight he actually is: 3 pounds, 9 ounces

Weeks he should be measuring: 28 weeks
Weeks is actually is measuring: 30 weeks 5 days

So as you can see, we're a little ahead of schedule.  The doctor thinks this is fine and he's just genetically predetermined to be a big baby.  That doesn't bode well for me!

We also got some new ultrasound pictures:

Legs and feet

Face shot!

And the most recent belly shot

go hens...

Since I got in trouble for not updating my blog enough, I will grace you with 2 entries to make up for it.  On Saturday, we went to our first Delaware game of the year! We always love to go to Delaware, especially when people give us presents!  At a tailgate, the Dean of the College of Health and Sciences gave us a onesie and bib.  Perfect for our future Bluehen (no pressure).

We got great seats and it was a good game to see.

Also a bonus, when we got hot, we were able to go inside and upstairs to watch the game from the Bluehen Club.

Someday we'll tell our baby about how Dad used to walk through that tunnel and play for Delaware.  Go Hens!

rules for holding the baby...

Based on recent events, I have developed a few rules for who gets to hold the baby:

You can reference this 26 week belly pic while you read these

1. If you question my due date, stating "really, you have until December?", you don't get to hold the baby

2. If you call me big, you don't get to hold the baby

3. If you ask if I'm having twins, you don't get to hold the baby

Those are the current rules. How would you like it if I called you big? Didn't think so.

On Friday, I fould something to make myself feel better.  While browsing a Target (and not getting the one thing I came for), I turned the corner and found this:

Christmas is coming!  I am excited because not only does that mean the baby is coming, but I have a serious love of Christmas!

I swear this print makes me look a lot bigger than I am!

But for me, the most exciting part of the weekend was the next first...
