We've been busy...

Remember I told you about our shopping trip last weekend?  We did pretty well but we still had a lot to do for the nursery.  Some would say this was partially my fault because I didn't know what sort of theme we wanted, but Scott quickly remedied that by asking "Where is all the sports stuff".  This was something we had not planned on, but quickly made adjustments.  Thanks to some quick painting on Friday night, some assembly work from Scott and a great day at Home Goods, we got pretty far.  A few weeks ago, Scott put our crib together and this is pretty much where we started:

It was pretty much a crib in a room

And this is where we ended

So we got a lot of work done, Hurricane Irene threatening the whole time!  It takes more than a hurricane to keep Steel women from shopping.  There is more to do (hang some shelves and hang the picture over the crib), but we are all very excited about the progress.  All we need now is the baby!

Watch out Charlottesville....

The Steel sisters are coming.

We are looking for anything blue that may possibly go in the nursery.

We will shop all day and night if we have to.

We tend to get what we want.

You've been warned!

A bit revealing...

A few girls at my work wanted to be surprised by the gender of our baby.  Apparently what some people do these days is to have the ultrasound tech write down the gender and put it in an envelope. They then take the envelope to the baker and they ice the center of the cake blue or pink so when the couple cuts into the cake, they find out the gender.  Scott and I couldn't wait, so we had the tech tell us, but I promised my friends that I would surprise them this way.  So, once I got home from my shopping spree, I baked a cake!

At work the next day, Nicole was very excited to cut into the cake and find the blue in the middle!

It was really fun to do, plus we all got cake!  If I even become more patient, I may consider doing the whole baker thing for the next baby, but probably not!

Also, here's an updated belly shot, we're getting bigger!

The results are in...

And it's a BOY!

We are very excited to finally know what the baby will be!  We had a feeling all along that it was a boy, but it's so nice to finally know.  The baby weighs 13 ounces and measures 20 weeks, 6 days (one week ahead of schedule).  The doctor says everything looks great and we go back in 4 weeks!  Here are the lastet ultrasound pictures and a picture of what I did today.

I may have gone shopping!

Now, as Scott said, let the name war begin!

What Am I?

Tomorrow is a big day for the Conleys (and anyone else waiting for baby Conley).

Tomorrow we find out is we are having a boy or a girl!  I am very ready to finally know so I can get shopping.  I have also heard that Lizzy, my mom and Sandy (Scott's mom) are also waiting to get shopping!

So check back tomorrow for the big news (considering this thing cooperates)!

something i love...

I saw this on Facebook today and I really love it.

I know all babies are wanted and loved, but I think this is funny.  Puts a funny little spin on everything we went through to get our little one.  I'm learning through the Shady Grove facebook page that the 2o months we went through is nothing compared to some people.  We are very lucky!

I may be a little crazy...

I was very excited when I opened my door and saw this outside....

You see, a few weeks ago I may have gone a little crazy!  While reading Baby Bargains 2011, I was reminded of one of my favorite stores.  I went online and browsed the baby section, seeing some very cute crib bumpers.  I have gone back and forth on using a bumper because it is currently recommended that bumpers are not placed in a crib and are a a safety hazard.  I decided that I would use one only if I found a really cute one on sale.  Ever the Steel girl....looking for a sale.

Then I found these in the clearance section...

I think they are adorably cute.  Simple yet cute.  I know what you are thinking...you are only having one baby, why do you have two bumpers?  That's where the crazy part comes in.  We do not yet know if we are having a boy or a girl.  But I couldn't pass these up!  They were $24.99 each!  And I can return whichever one I don't use (a true Steel girl practice)!  And they came with this great reading material!

So you may think I'm crazy, but I'm going to call it financially savvy.  If you need me, I'm avoiding the fact that tomorrow is Monday and looking for more crazy things to order!
