I saw this on Facebook today and I really love it.
I know all babies are wanted and loved, but I think this is funny. Puts a funny little spin on everything we went through to get our little one. I'm learning through the Shady Grove facebook page that the 2o months we went through is nothing compared to some people. We are very lucky!

I may be a little crazy...
I was very excited when I opened my door and saw this outside....
I think they are adorably cute. Simple yet cute. I know what you are thinking...you are only having one baby, why do you have two bumpers? That's where the crazy part comes in. We do not yet know if we are having a boy or a girl. But I couldn't pass these up! They were $24.99 each! And I can return whichever one I don't use (a true Steel girl practice)! And they came with this great reading material!
You see, a few weeks ago I may have gone a little crazy! While reading Baby Bargains 2011, I was reminded of one of my favorite stores. I went online and browsed the baby section, seeing some very cute crib bumpers. I have gone back and forth on using a bumper because it is currently recommended that bumpers are not placed in a crib and are a a safety hazard. I decided that I would use one only if I found a really cute one on sale. Ever the Steel girl....looking for a sale.
Then I found these in the clearance section...

So you may think I'm crazy, but I'm going to call it financially savvy. If you need me, I'm avoiding the fact that tomorrow is Monday and looking for more crazy things to order!

Something a litte more uplifting....
I figured that since that last post was so depressing, I should write something a little more uplifting.
We had a pretty nice little weekend. A last minute decision to avoid crowds and not see Harry Potter led to a very nice impromptu date night at Lightfoot in Leesburg. We did some house cleaning and completely cleaned out the nursery. Now it's just waiting for Lizzy's magic touch to be a cute little place for the baby and all it's things. On Saturday night, we saw Wicked at the Kennedy Center. We had great seats and the play was fantastic! Today we played mini golf with some church people and had a relaxing day. A nice change from the chaos of last weekend.
I would have also preferred that the US Women's Team won the World Cup, but with all that Japan has been through, I am glad they have something to cheer about. Also, I am excited that the NFL lockout appears to be close to over and we can watch football next month!
All in all, a good weekend!

A Scary Situation
Alright Aunt Lizzy, you get your wish, a new blog post. I may need to change my password so I don't get harassed on my own blog!
I was waiting until after I went to the doctor to post so I could make sure everything was fine before posting. We had a scary weekend. On Saturday morning, I started spotting, which freaked me out. My doctor told me to lay low for a while and that everything was probably fine, but that we could go to the ER if it got worse or we wanted to. Scott really wanted to go and it got worse, so we went. It was the worst car ride of my life as it was 6 am and I didn't want to call and wake/worry anyone, so Scott and I just tried to calm each other down. That didn't work too well. I'm sure the admissions guy appreciated the sobbing woman in his cubicle who wasn't even able to answer simple questions like "What is your name?". After waiting too long for an unltrasound, we were reassured that everything is fine with baby Conley. The baby continues to grow fast, it is almost a week ahead of where it should measure. I am never surprised by this fact because Scott's nickname is "large human" and he was 10 lbs. 14 oz when he was born. I have already informed our doctor that I will not be a hero and have no need to deliver a baby over 9 lbs. But it was very reassuring to see the baby move and hear a nice strong heartbeat. We tried to sneak in finding out the sex of the baby, but it's legs were crossed and we couldn't see.
I went to the doctor on Monday and was further reassured that the baby is just fine. We listened for the heartbeat and I had another scary moment as the doctor had trouble finding the heartbeat. As I'm silently freaking out, the doctor laughed. I did not find that amusing, but she informed me that she couldnt find the heartbeat because the baby kept kicking the monitor. So I guess it's active and a little bit of a punk. The doctor did say that as we progress, they will watch me closer. Apparently moms who have had IVF tend to deliver a little early, so it will be nice to be watched a little closer. She called it being on the low end of high risk.
That's all we have for now. I'm starting to feel the baby move, which is really exciting. Scott keeps thinking he feels it and I sometimes don't have the heart to tell him he's just feeling my heartbeat. I'll just let him be excited!

Baby Conley's Blog
Hello all!
Scott and I decided to start a blog because we have so many people that live out of town that we don't get the chance to see very often. As you know by now, we are adding a baby to our bunch in December, the due date is December 27th. We had our 12 week screen and everything looked great. The picture in the first blog post is from that ultrasound. At that time, the baby was measuring almost a week big but the doctor says when you do IVF, the due date doesn't change. Because we know the actual conception date due to the IVF, the due date doesn't change. I asked the doctor if it was ok that the baby measures so big so early. He took one look at Scott and said yes. We are now 15 weeks along and getting very excited!
I can't promise that this blog will be as funny as Lizzy's, but I sure will try! Maybe I'll just have Lizzy write this blog for me. However she may be too busy designing our nursery and planning my shower to write my blog and her blog. Guess she'll be pretty busy between now and Christmas!
